The food is great and the menu is extensive. Everything comes in large dishes so you can share food amongst yourselves at your table. It is an eclectic setting with lots of plants and decorations that make you feel like you might step out of the restaurant and see the beach or the mountains instead of Virginia Highlands. We went on a Saturday afternoon when it was not busy at all.
Very tasty mom and pop Thai restaurant. Would eat here again. Large selection of dishes. Friendly interaction with the owners. Less salty and more flavorful than most other Thai restaurants I have visited.
The food was delicious and the owners are lovely, attentive folks. I definitely recommend it!
The most amazing little eclectic Thai eatery I've ever been to. In fact, the most quaint and eclectic restaurant I've ever been to. Strangely welcoming and cozy, reminded me of my grandmother's 120 yr. Old house. Vintage Asian decor. A romantic space, perfect for a date night. The owner is quiet, efficient, funny, pretty much runs the restaurant on his own with little help, but manages somehow. Such an interesting and unusual experience. So glad my husband suggested we try it out. He ate here almost 15 years ago and raved about the food. I agree, it was authentic, flavorful, fun and worth the trip. Looking forward to dining here again and trying some new items. I don't think you can go wrong with whatever you decide to order. We had chillied lamb, chicken curry, spicy tomato soup and a prawn dish. The plating is spectacular. An adventure, much respect!!
The food there is always good no matter what i order there. If it says spicy, it is spicy so keep that in mind and tell them to make it mild for you if you need it. This is some of the most authentic thai food you can get in the inmer city. Definitely worth a try
very nice mom and pop shop tucked away in the ATL. good food and great service. make sure you know what spice level you can handle so they get it just to your liking.
They serve food in fruit/squash shells - how awesome is that? And the food is really good too, so many options in the menu, idk how they do it. Don't expect your whole party's food to come out at once though because they're individually making each dish. The atmosphere is cute and unique too.
Great Thai food and presentation! I loved the decor. Be careful with the spice - I asked for level 1 out of 5, and I don't think I could have handled more than that. For reference, I normally eat hot buffalo wings.
Amazing food and ambiance. The owners are the friendliest and mindful hosts that seem to remember you visit after visit. The food comes in carved fruit for great presentation. This is a great place for large and small groups. The food here cannot be beat.
Hands down the absolute best Thai place in Atlanta!!! Everytime we go we try something new and it‘s always fresh and delicious. Owners are super sweet, atmosphere is very unique. Make sure to try for yourself!!!
Just the best! Delicious food. Friendly service. Wonderfully decorated ambiance. I still don’t understand how Surin is so busy with this place next door.
Went here for some dinner this past Saturday. There was basically no wait at all. The food came soon and was served in this unique plate sitting atop a pumpkin half. You have to experience it. Great, tasty food and very uniquely decorated interior.
Great neighborhood restaurant. Cindy makes you feel like you are at home. Spicy is spicy, no exceptions.
The most amazing Thai food I've ever had! The decor was super fun and the service was great too! My husband and I are only in Atlanta for a few days and we're so happy we found this place! Try the Honey Duck!
Don't let the eccentric decor dissuade you, the food is amazing and authentic!! And the customer service is just as wonderful!
Your enjoyment of this place will really depend on your personality. It is not like a normal thai restaurant, or any restaurant for that matter. The atmosphere is like that of an eccentric person's small cozy garden home. The food is much more rustic than typical thai restaurant food. It's more like something you would be served at someone's home. But it comes elaborately plated inside of hollowed out fruit. So the food, much like the ambience, is all at once rustic, cozy, and eccentric. If those are things that you don't value in a dinning experience then you may not enjoy it as much. I've been there several times and on each visit the couple that runs the place has been extremely friendly, very inviting, and have expressed much gratitude for our business. Entrees are between 15 and 30 with 18 or 19 being the average. The menu is huge but I recommend the dish called In Honor Of The King. I hope you try Panita and I hope you enjoy it!
A hidden gem for sure! We’ve been to SO many restaurants around this area including another popular Thai place but this blows them all away. The chicken satay are like NO other!Fried rice...amazing!We also had a wonderful beef dish with tons of veggies and delicious sauce. I think anything you order would be amazing. The appearance is a little quirky at first but once you get some of that great food in your mouth, you will LOVE it!
Amazing experience and delicious food in the homey garden seating. Panita is the most sincere owner we've met. She's passionate about the food and made us feel right at home.
Every time I’m in Atlanta I have to go here. It’s the best Thai food that I have ever had. I have yet to find a restaurant to come close. IfYou are vegetarian this is the ideal place to go. I recommend the tomato basil!
Easily the best thai food I've had in Atlanta and probably ever. Everything from the flavors and taste to the presentation is absolutely outstanding. The place (decor wise) is so quirky and fun and cool and the couple that owns and runs it is amazing. It is truly a local staple in the community!
Go to Surin. It’s right next door. You’re welcome.
I was so excited to try this place and experience authentic Thai food, one of my favorite cuisines. Unfortunately I have been sick since we ate there Saturday night. I never have this problem, but the restaurant had one light, no heat and filthy so it explains a lot. Be careful if you go there. It seems like it’s more of a spring - fall place with no electricity for lighting and only one space heater. Very dusty and obviously not so clean if I’ve been dealing with food poisoning symptoms since!
I was trying to make a reservation for a birthday dinner and the owner was the RUDEST individual I have ever come across in my entire life. Not only did he deny us service after asking if I was a regular customer and he couldn't recall, he also lied to me saying Cindy, his wife, no longer works there and proceeded to hang up in my face when I told him I knew he was lying. This is my most favorite Thai restaurant in the world, however because of this, you have just lost a loyal customer. I am sad to have to post this because I really enjoyed Ms. Cindy, she is blessed and I really appreciate her service while dining. It's unfortunate things had to end this way. Better luck next time.
Me and my family ate there yesterday because Surin had not opened yet. Glad we did it. Service was excellent. Food was served to us in hollowed out fruit. We will return. I recommend this place highly .
Amazing food! Very interesting and unique! Aside from the amazing dishes, the customer service was great. The owners even had a very genuine, caring, and even humorous personalities. I can't wait to go back and try something new. Best shrimp fired rice I've ever had.! Jan 2018!Anyone giving this place a bad rating obviously haven't been anywhere in live or traveled outside of their comfort zone and or they are very closed minded an haven't experienced much at all! Of course the place isn't a classy dinning restaurant, so DON't judge it for it. Also, as a customer if you DO NOT understand or have a dry sense of humors then you WILL judge the owner or staff wrong! So give this restraint credit where it's due! -_-
This is one of the most precious places to eat in Atlanta. Their food is prepared with so much love, fresh and diverse fresh vegetables and presented so beautifully. The style is combination of different regions including a special village in the mountains. Thai soul food mixed with high cuisine. Worth every penny.
The ambience will take you to Thailand. It's absolutely stunning. The couple who owns it will be cutting and preparing your food beside you. They're so nice. They'll remember you too! Order the drink in the big watermelon for the group. It's a great place just to escape, but I go there so often I walk in and practically have my dish waiting on me. Very happy to have made this place a home. The food at night and on weekends comes out in fruit dishes, the pictures are very real!!!
Sometimes you need real, traditional Thai cooking. Sometimes you need to eat it out of massive metal bowls or hollowed out fruits and gourds or a large tin foil swan. Sometimes you need to be surrounded by some whacky decor. The next time you’re feeling adventurous, eat at Panita. It’s a full sensory experience and totally worth it. Perfectly placed for a little bar hopping afterward.
Awesome family run Thai restaurant. Best in Atlanta IMO.
The WORST service I have ever had. My cousin ordered some spring rolls and I asked if the dish had any cashews because I am allergic. The server just said “No, only peanuts. Oh well, too late” and walked away. I was a little confused, but luckily it was peanuts. Also, I ordered curry with shrimp and I received curry with chicken. I told my server this and she asked if I had taken a bite yet. Which I did. She said, “Next time don’t take a bite from it” and took my plate to remake my dish. Then, my new curry dish had a piece of plastic in it. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Best Thai food in the City by far! This family owned business goes out of their way to make you feel welcome. My Wife and I are Foodies and this place definitely did not disappoint, it was excellent and we look forward to coming back. Don't let the older and quirkier exterior fool you, this place is a hidden gem! The quality of the raw ingredients was exceptional and the preparation and presentation was second to none. They deserve a #JamesBeardAward .
Where do I start about this place. Amazing Thai food and (sometimes) amazing presentation in carved fruit bowls. Some people are turned off by the owner (who does everything by himself) - he’s sometimes grumpy and is sometimes cooking in the back when people walk in which is kind of confusing.Ignore his idiosyncrasies! You’ll be rewared with delicious and authentic Thai food (and you might be the only people in the restaurant 😂)
Fantastic atmosphere and delicious food. To top it off there's a friendly staff. Best place for Thai food in Atlanta, hands down.
Very unique interior design of restaurant. Good food. Relaxing and quiet during lunch today from 1-3 PM.
Aboslutely the most exquisite Thai food I've eve had. I love the fact that the couple who runs it also cook and serve. Because of this, there's often a bit of a wait, but I promise it is worth it. The service was wonderful and it made me feel at home. Truly authentic. Also, a great place to go on a date. It made me feel as if I were in a nice little beach house.
This is the best Thai restaurant I've been to in Atlanta. Panita and her husband are extremely personable and very friendly. The ambiance and presentation is amazing!
I seriously love this place! Best Thai restaurant around. The owner remembers us even though we only come by every few months. ALWAYS so friendly!
Food absolutely blew me away. If you are all about quality, this is it.
The restaurant has a really eclectic outdoor garden area that makes you feel secluded in the Virginia Highland. They are always playing really pretty music. The food is FANTASTIC. I recommend the Drunker Noodle... they serve you family style portions with enough to take home and all the food comes out in hollowed out fruit like watermelon or pineapple which sit in these really large pretty silver dishes. The service is Mom and Pop style, so sometimes it takes a while for the food to come out. Pop in the back cooking and Mom in the front hosting and taking orders. My husband and I love it. It looks a little eclectic/rundown from the outside, but once you're in the patio area, it truly feels like you are sitting in a secret garden eating some of the best Thai food in Atlanta.
Awesome restaurant owned by a husband and wife. Great food. Fun, eclectic atmosphere. Truly a unique dining experience. If you don't like this place it's probably something wrong with you, not with the restaurant.
Panita Thai Kitchen is a fantastic restaurant that has a different Thai menu than the "typical" one found in American Thai restaurants.Don't miss the Yum salad, the Nam Tom Beans, and the Yaowaraj Noodle, all excellent.Service is also fantastic here.
Awesome experience, food is great and great customer service. It looks weird outside but trust me, the inside is authentic.
This place is not even WORTH ONE STAR, but in order to review I HAD to select it. It should be 0 stars to be honest. This was the WORST experience I have ever had in my entire life... Don't even bother going.... Food was horrible and service was even worse.... I promise you that by skipping this restaurant you will thank me.
The food here is authentic and adds a lot decor to it, from extra herbs in your food to cooking your platter on a big piece of fruit, it adds something great for the tourist of this great spot.
This place is amazing! This is my go to for Thai food! Everything I've had is awesome, full of flavor! I keep coming back and now I have all my friends coming too!The staff is so sweet! Ambience is a 9 out of 10!!! I love sitting outside on the beautiful rooftop patio. It makes you feel rich! Grace is amazing! Super sweet and thoughtful! The food always comes out quick, hot and fresh too! A MUST HAVE!!! Everyday of the week! Oooh and there's lunch specials for only $10! Amazing prices awesome food!! Omg!!!! Love Love
Good food good people
Never knew about this restaurant. It was a very different experience. There food is delicious. The prices are a tad bit high but you get what you pay for. I really wasn’t sure if this was a restaurant or what because it definitely doesn’t look like your average place to dine. You gotta experience it! This place along with the food is extremely unique. I do have to say though it is extremely dusty and it was hot and stuffy, very little lighting. It doesn’t look like the photos that I have seen posted. Oh yeah I order the curry chicken which comes with white rice, I asked for fried rice, I was told no, you have to get white rice because fried rice takes too long to cook lol

Then do yourself a favor and come eat here. Locally owned, always fresh food, and always presented with a unique personality from the owners in an authentic environment as well.... in advance, you're welcome :)
